Team Awa's Sphero Racing

We have been learning about the America's Cup. We have done lots of learning about the teams, the history of the cup and how the boats race. 

We have done lots of different learning and activities to help our understanding. Here are some of our results from the Sphero races. 

Robots - Play, Make, Create

Today Team Awa used the book Robot Stop as inspiration for our Play, Make, Create tasks. Here are a few examples of our fun learning for Robot Stop.

Team Awa Online Learning

Well Team Awa have made a great start to their online learning. It was great to see everyone's happy face in our google hangouts. We have seen lots of great work happening. Here is some of the great work that the students in Team Awa have been doing. Writing, Handwriting, Maths, Reading and Maori.

               

Adding using tidy numbers by Rakai

This is a strategy we had been learning in class. Breaking the small number into parts, the first part to make a tidy number (number that ends in a 0) then the second part gets added on to find the answer.

Sorting Lollies - Statistics

For statistics we sorted a bag of Party Mix lollies. Mrs Clarke took photos and then we cut them out and chose how we would sort the lollies. Here are some photos of our sorting and the graphs we created.

On Friday the children brought their favourite soft toy to school and we sorted them for Statistics.

Maths - Statistics

For the last 2 week we have been learning about Statistics for Maths. We have been collecting data in tally charts and displaying the information in bar and pictographs. 

Birthday Graph. July was a popular month for Team Awa babies to be born. 

 Our favourite bird. Nearly all children loved the Kiwi.

 We investigated the colours of lollipops in a bag. 

Here is Maia's graph from her group. Each bag was very different.  

We counted the fruit trees in our orchard. Here is Emmanuel's tally chart and graph showing what we found. There were so many trees we had to count in 2's for this graph.
